Membekali Anak-anak Saat Terjadi Bencana

Apa yang harus kita lakukan saat terjadi bencana?

Pertanyaan itu sempat terpikir oleh saya ketika membaca berita bencana alam. Saya sendiri pun sepertinya sangat awam dengan usaha penyelamatan diri saat bencana terjadi. Bagaimana dengan anak-anak?

Rupanya, setelah saya telusur, ada sekolah-sekolah yang sudah membekali murid-muridnya dengan pengetahuan siaga bencana. Sekolah-sekolah ini melakukan simulasi bencana dan memberikan pengetahuan mengenai hal-hal yang harus dilakukan oleh seluruh warga sekolah. Kegiatan ini meurpakan usaha yang patut disyukuri.

Namun demikian, ada baiknya anak-anak memiliki sebuah buku pegangan untuk mereka. Berawal dari pemikiran tersebut, buku ini lahir. Anak-anak diberikan ilustrasi cerita tentang bencana yang terjadi, pengetahuan dasar tentang bencana tersebut juga langkah-langkah yang harus dilakukan.

Proses penulisan buku ini lumayan lama. Selain menulis, dan berdiskusi dengan editor mengenai topik-topik yang akan dibahas, saya mesti banyak membaca. Buku ini pun disesuaikan penulisannya supaya mudah dimengerti anak.

Pendek kata, saya berharap buku ini bermanfaat untuk anak-anak, juga orangtua dan guru. Berhati-hati saat terjadi bencana tentu sangat penting. Dengan mengetahui langkah yang harus dilakukan, bisa jadi kita tidak hanya menyelamatkan diri sendiri, namun juga orang lain. Selamat membaca! (Laras Ayu)
